A new favorite blogger of mine, Jenn of “You are flawed if you are not free,” recently wrote her second installment of a post where she lists things she loves, and perhaps takes for granted. Her list omits people to facilitate her recognition that she can be happy independent of friends and family. I’m going to emulate her in this post, except a few people will make my list, simply because they are such a part of me I can’t imagine leaving them out.
I love…
waking up without an alarm. miss kitty. honey roasted peanuts. figuring out how to do something on my own. the smell of fresh-mown grass. recognition. taking pictures of flowers, animals and small children. when lights turn green so you don’t have to downshift. cold pizza. daffodils. planning ahead. forehead kisses. my parents. sleeping with the windows open.
notes written on the windows in yesterday’s dew. peanut butter. stores that sell stuff to organize other stuff. relaxing in a hammock. watching my cat stretch out in front of a fire in the fireplace. starlight mints. escalators. knitting. discovering a new food to like. angry house cleaning. camping. songs you know every word to. puzzles. traveling. falling in love with the character in a book.
wandering around, discovering nature. coca cola classic. catelyn. methodical tasks. dogs. meeting people that you feel like you’ve known forever. hanging pictures on walls. a clean car. cake tops. buying clothes a size smaller than you thought you were. popping zits. the flute. oranges, lemons and limes. conversations that bring laughter and tears to your eyes (bidets).
grilled cheese and chocolate milk. having my hair played with. kool-aid popsicles. gardens. phone calls from friends in other states. horses. knitting. finding money in coat pockets. trees. thunderstorms. my sister. receiving snail mail. scottish or irish accents. fried sourdough bread on mom’s birthday. crossing things off my to-do list.
wrapping presents. edamame. sliding into a bed with fresh sheets. an amazing haircut. papercrafts. dinner with friends. spring. the first snow of the season. throwing stuff away. a chewy granola bar crumbled into a bowl of vanilla ice cream. hyacinth and lilac. rummikub. the idea of themed parties. photo albums. sticky rice. a great pair of jeans. show me.
leather. making cookies. learning something new about someone you’ve known for a while. paying off my car loan. ribbon. straightness. car dancing. margaritas. leaving work early. wireless internet. avocados. handmade goods. the combination of wood and metal. kisses from children and puppies. hiking. the idea of falling in love.
This is a pretty impressive love list. The idea of falling in love is definitely a good one π
Thank you so much for the link love and the sweet intro π
Just had to mention that “you are flawed if you are not free” is in a Rilo Kiley song. It’s definitely a good thought. Hope multiple items on your list happen for you soon!
That’s an interesting song. I think that album is pretty underrated – other than Portions for Foxes it didn’t get much attention. I think that phrase applies to a lot of people these days that have a hard time both accepting and offering love – it’s easier to be free and not deal with our flaws.
